Holy cow, I was not prepared for how much I loved this book. At its core, this is a book about learning how to recognize signs from our loved ones who have crossed over to the Other Side. But it’s also so, so much more than that. It’s also a book about using those signs to choose a higher path. As we gain a greater understanding of our own interconnectedness, we begin to open ourselves up to guidance from our higher selves and our spirit guides. Every decision we make comes from a place of love or a place of fear. As Jackson says, when we make decisions that are love based and not fear based, we move on to a higher life path.
Perhaps not surprisingly, this was the perfect follow-up to the last spiritual book I read, Super Attractor, which also touches on choosing a higher path. All of this has been at the front and center of my own life recently, which made this book a perfect continuation of the message to make decisions based on joy and faith instead of fear.
I particularly liked the exercise she introduces near the end, of writing a letter to the Universe thanking it for bringing you everything you’ve ever wanted, as if those things have already happened. Focusing on feelings of gratitude and joy can be a powerful practice for bringing even more of them into your life.
For more on this topic, read Martha Beck, especially Steering by Starlight. She refers to this as “shackles off” vs. “shackles on” situations. If you are faced with a choice that makes you feel physically smaller, like you’re caving in on yourself, that’s a “shackles on” option, and it will not lead you to your highest path. If, however, you have a choice that makes you feel expansive, like your body is physical lighter and more open, that’s a “shackles off” option. You feel free, not trapped or constrained by your situation or even the thought of it. Listen to those signals from your body. Choosing a “shackles off” option may be scary as hell. It may feel like a path of risk and uncertainty. You may very likely be able to see only the next step in front of you. But you don’t have to see any farther than that. You just have to trust the next right step. And signs from your loved ones on the Other Side can help you do exactly that.
